Shaving My Head With The Philips OneBlade 360
Link to razor is at bottom of description. This video was originally filmed in February 12, 2014. I got busy and forgot to edit it and post it. The hair on my head is about 3 months long.
In the video I shave my head with the Philips OneBlade 360. The main difference between this and the OneBlade in my other videos is that it's designed to pivot from side to side as well as front to back.
One of the things I liked the OneBlade 360 is the way they designed the guard. You simply push it down to get it to a different guard length instead of having to swap out guards. This is definitely an improvement over needing five different guards from the previous OneBlade versions.
The biggest drawback I noticed is that if your hair is a lot longer than the desired guard length, then the hairs is going to get caught underneath the blade and prevent it from cutting. The end result is going to be you'll have to clean the guard out after each pass.
For example, if your hair was an inch in length and you wanted to take it down to 5mm, then you're going to have a rough time.
On the other hand, it does pretty good with longer lengths of hair as long as you take the guard off.
Another thing I like is how they designed the cord to plug directly into the razor instead of plugging into a base and then into the razor like other models do.

Parker SR1 Shavette 2 Month Beard Shave

In this video I shave a 2 month beard off with a Parker SR1 shavette. The shave went smooth with the exception of the chin area. I nicked myself a few times on the chin. I don't have much experience using this shavette, so the nicks could be due to lack of familiarity with the shavette.
Parker SR1 Shavette - 4 Month Head Shave

In this video I shave 4 months of hair growth on my head with a Parker SR1 Shavette. The Parker SR1 did great shaving the length of hair. There was some hair that got stuck between the blade holders, but it didn't impact the shaving ability of the razor. My only real complaint with this particular razor is when you insert the blade. There is a blade clip holder that you push down over the two b...

The blade exposure seems to be controlled by a screw. I haven't tried m...

    Thanks for this video Thomas. I have been using Gillette cartridge razors (the likes of Gillette proglide razor) for over a decade but recently become aware of the merits of safety razors (closer shaves, less irritation, more economical, less ingrown hairs, more eco friendly, etc). I was considering getting Gillette proglide power (never used the power variant) but now am also considering getting a safety razor. I am thinking of purchasing a safety razor to try it out. Since I'm new to safety razors, which safety razor would you recommend? Also found there's single edge safety razor and double edge safety razor, what might you recommend to a newbie? Is King C Gillette DE razor what I should be getting?

      I haven’t shaved with a lot of different models of safety razors and I haven’t tried the ones you listed, but my favorite safety razor so far has been the Bevel safety razor. You can pick one up at Target if you live close to one or you can buy one off of Amazon. You can find an Amazon link in the description of this video: ua-cam.com/video/QAvVZkJk7GI/v-deo.html

    So that’s good news because 17 shaves is better than the 5-8 shaves that the packaging for my Harry’s razor says. It said that I should change the blade after 5-8 shaves. I don’t know if they are trying to get me to have less faith in the blades and buy more or if they are being brutally honest and saying that 2 Harry’s razor = 1 Gillette razor but from your experience it seems like the blade life is about the same as Gillette?

    • @ShaveWithThomas
      @ShaveWithThomas 14 днів тому

      I personally liked the Gillette better. The Harry’s razor has an issue with rusting, especially the precision trimming. I did get a lot of shaves out of the Harry’s though. I think a lot of that may have been due to use of shaving soap and not too sensitive of a face. They might day 5 - 8 shaves for optimal shaving, but’s it’s just really depends on how well it keeps shaving for you and your specific facial hair.

  • @Odinarcade00
    @Odinarcade00 14 днів тому

    After all these years of avoiding Gillette I finally tried one and looked at prices and I gotta say they really are quality and it’s not as expensive as I had imagined. Cheaper razors wear out faster. Your shave won’t be as smooth. You’ll probably spend more time and cut yourself. Most other razors besides Gillette and Harry’s cut my face anyways.

    How do you replace the blade? And does it workfor people who get razor burn? I bought a double edged safety razor because of how cheap it is for new blades but cut myself like crazy because it couldn't get all of the hair off my face, especially under my chin.

    • @ShaveWithThomas
      @ShaveWithThomas 23 дні тому

      This is a true straight razor. You don’t replace the blade, you hone and strop it to maintain the edge. A lot of people report less razor burn because of less blades. It sounds like you might be holding it at too steep an angle. There is a learning curve to it. The more you use it the easier it gets. If you get frustrated, just finish the difficult parts with your regular razor. Each time you shave try to do a little bit more with your safety razor.
